Please read through the following example dialogs.
Example 1:
Simon: Good morning Wiliam. How are you?
William: Hey Simon, I’m good thanks. Hey, I wanted your opinion on where we should hold next week’s presentation for Yonzen group.
Simon: Yes, I was thinking about that myself. How about holding it at the Kings hotel near their office?
William: That’s what I was thinking, but it’s fully booked because of the motor show. I suppose we could try using the ’Rose’ conference hall down the street from the hotel.
Simon: I wouldn’t suggest going there. It’s a pretty small venue and they don’t have many facilities. Why don’t you try Triton tower conference center? It’s pretty close to the office too and they have all the latest video and audio equipment.
William: Oh, yes, I hadn’t thought of that. I’ll check it immediately. Thanks for the recommendation.
Simon: No worries, I hope you can get a reservation for next week. Let me know how it goes.
Example 2
Alexander: Hi Simon, I was wondering whether you could help me. I’d like to buy a gift for my client, the CIO Yonzen group. What should I get?
Simon: Hey Alexander, sure, well, it depends. How long have you known him? What do you know about him? Do you know his hobbies outside of work?
Alexander: Well we’ve had several meetings regarding the Alberta deal, and we get on very well. He hasn’t really talked about his hobbies, but I guess he likes golfing as he does talk about it from time to time.
Simon: I suggest that you get him some nice food or drink? Is there anything you know he likes?
Alexander: Oh, actually, now that you mention it. Yuko did mention that he likes Scotch whiskey and seems to know quite a lot about it.
Simon: Well, I think you should get him a nice bottle of scotch then. He’d probably really appreciate that, especially now that we’re heading into the winter months.
Example 3:
Alexander: Hello Simon, how are you today?
Simon: Oh, hey Alexander, good thanks. How are things going with the Alberta project?
Alexander: Not too bad. Actually, I’d like your suggestions on who to contact with regard to setting up next month’s event.
Simon: You should try to contact Mr. Ito’s secretary. I wouldn’t suggest asking him directly. She’ll put you in touch with the right people.
Alexander: Okay, thanks for the heads up. I’ll give you an update later.
Simon: Okay, talk to you then.
