Simon: Okay Alexander, my plan is as follows. I’m aiming to close the deal by mid-March by proposing an extra discount for the management team.
Alexander: Okay, have you already discussed this with Mr. Tanaka?
Simon: Yes, actually he also thinks it would be the best option.
Alexander: I see. Do you think it’ll be enough to convince them?
Simon: Actually, no. I’ve asked Carl to join us at the next meeting and provide one of his excellent presentations. The goal is to show them the benefits of the system, specifically for management purposes and I believe that with Carl’s help, along with the discount, they’ll jump at the opportunity.
Alexander: Okay, sounds like a good idea. Could you please arrange a quick talk between the three of us before the meeting?
Simon: Sure thing. I’ll let you know our availability by the end of the day. If you think of anything else we could do, please let me know.
Alexander: Will do, thanks.
Simon: Thank you.
Example 2
William: Hi Simon, are you free?
Simon: Sure, I’ve got about fifteen minutes before my meeting with Yonzen group. Go ahead please.
William: Okay, let me give you an outline of our plan for next month’s conference. We’re hoping to gather two hundred guests, which is almost double last year’s number. To do this, we’re aiming to send out follow up emails tomorrow offering a slight discount for those who’ve worked with us for more than five years.
Simon: Okay, sounds like a good plan. How big is the discount?
William: We’re aiming at ten percent. What do you think?
Simon: Yeah, I think that’s just about right.
William: Also, I’m hoping to drum up a lot of interest in our upcoming product range and I think having Carl with us to make a closing speech would be perfect, wouldn’t you agree?
Simon: Oh, Carl is back from the U.S.?
William: Yes, he got back yesterday and the timing couldn’t be better.
Simon: Excellent… Well keep me posted.
Example 3
Jessica: Hi William, do you have a minute?
William: Sure Jessica, what’s up?
Jessica: Great, let me take you through my plan for the meeting tomorrow.
William: Oh yes, go ahead.
Jessica: Well, I’m planning to make the initial proposal and I’ve asked Carl to join us. He’s going to explain the full process from beginning to end, and has made a clever summary of all the main points. What do you think so far?
William: Yes, well Carl is very good at breaking things down in a way that’s easy for newcomers to digest. What’s your plan for the dinner afterwards?
Jessica: Good question. I’m hoping to book a private room at that newly opened sushi restaurant in Omotesando. I’m planning to make the reservation immediately after this.
William: Sounds great. If you can’t book that place, let me know. I have another good restaurant in mind that we could reserve.
Jessica: Great William, that’s a big help. Talk to you later.
William: Okay, see you later on.
