Present Simple with ‘Be’: ‘wh’ Questions

In this activity, we’ll explore how to form ‘wh’ questions using the verb “be” in the present simple tense. ‘Wh’ questions are key for asking for specific information and details, such as who, what, where, when, and why.

You’ll practice structuring questions with “am,” “is,” and “are” to inquire about people, places, and situations. If you’d like to make a ‘wh’ question, you just put the question word (or phrase, like ‘how long’) at the front.

Where am I?

How are you?

Why is he here?

Who is she?

What is it?

When are we at home?

How long are they in London?

Learning to ask these types of questions will enhance your ability to gather detailed information and engage in meaningful conversations.
