Skip to main content- We use the present simple to discuss future events based on timetables set by organizations, not by us. Include a future time expression like ‘tomorrow’ or ‘at seven thirty’. For questions, use ‘when’ or ‘what time’.
- School starts at nine tomorrow.
- What time does the film begin?
- The plane doesn’t arrive at seven; it arrives at seven thirty.
- We use the present simple to talk about the future following words like ‘when’, ‘until’, ‘after’, ‘before’, and ‘as soon as’. These are known as subordinate clauses of time.
- I will call you when I have time. (Not: ‘will have’.)
- I won’t go out until it stops raining.
- I’m going to make dinner after I watch the news.
