Activity 01 – Example dialogs

Scenario 1
Anthony: Hey William, any updates on the Yonzen deal?

William: Oh hi Anthony, yes, let me give you a quick overview. We still have a minor hurdle to get over in terms of finding the correct partner, but we’ll be approaching XYZ co. this afternoon and Simon is confident they’ll agree to work with us.

Anthony: Alright, if you need any assistance, please let me know.

William: Will do. Thanks, and wish us luck.

Anthony: Good luck.
Scenario 2
Alexander: Good morning Simon. Do you know what’s happening with the upcoming event in Singapore? Have they confirmed the date yet?

Simon: I haven’t been informed yet. Actually, I’m worried we may not be ready in time as there are some major obstacles ahead of us.

Alexander: Go on…

Simon: Well, I’m afraid John is still out sick and may be so for another month. We also need more senior sales staff to attend, however most of them are going to be tied up during that period. On top of that, the prototype model still hasn’t been completed.

Alexander: Okay, well, I’ll see what I can do regarding the sales staff. I also spoke to John’s colleague yesterday and apparently he’ll be out in the first week of May which is good news.

Simon: That’s good news and yes, if you could help me with the sales staff, that would be great.

Alexander: Okay, good luck. Talk to you later.
Scenario 3
William: Hello Gina. How are you doing?

Gina: Hi William. I’m fine thanks and yourself? How are things coming along with the project?

William: Not too bad, however, some issues still remain with the new system.

Gina:  Oh really? Any idea what’s causing the problem?

William: We’re not sure, but Anthony is working on it with his team, so I’m sure we’ll find the root cause soon.

Gina:  Okay William, I look forward to a solution being found. Let me know when that happens, will you please? I’ll be meeting with Ito-san at the end of next week.

William: Of course Gina. You’ll be the first to know.
