‘Will’ OR ‘Going to’?

When deciding between ‘Will’ and ‘Going to,’ the choice depends on the context:

  • ‘Will’ is used for spontaneous decisions, promises, offers, and predictions based on personal opinions or beliefs. For example, “I will call you later” (spontaneous decision) or “I will help you” (promise).
  • ‘Going to’ is used for plans or intentions made before the moment of speaking and predictions based on current evidence. For example, “I’m going to visit my friend tomorrow” (planned action) or “Look at those dark clouds; it’s going to rain” (evidence-based prediction).

Understanding when to use each form will help you communicate your future intentions and predictions more clearly.
