‘Will’ use – offers, requests, refusals and promises

We use the future simple with ‘Will’ to express promises, requests, refusals, and offers. This use of ‘will’ is often referred to as ‘volitional’, as it reflects a willingness or unwillingness to do something in the future.

  • Offer: I’ll help you with your homework.
  • Request: Will you give me a hand?
  • Refusal: I won’t go!
  • Promise: Don’t worry, I’ll definitely come early.
