Activity 01 – Example dialogs

Example 1

Tom: Hi, Xiang. I’m having trouble with my computer.

Xiang: Oh, what seems to be the problem, Tom?

Tom: I can’t open my email. Every time I try, it just shows an error message.

Xiang: Hmm, that sounds frustrating. Let me take a look. Ah, I see. It seems like there’s a problem with your internet connection.

Tom: Oh, really? I didn’t realize. How can we fix it?

Xiang: We can try restarting the router. That often helps. Let’s give it a try.

Tom: Okay, let’s do that. Thanks for your help, Sarah.

Xiang: No problem, Tom. Hopefully, that solves the issue.

Example 2

Emma: Hey, Alex. Have you finished the report for today’s meeting?

Alex: I’m sorry, Emma. I haven’t finished it yet.

Emma: Oh no, why not?

Alex: Well, I tried to work on it this morning, but my computer doesn’t want to cooperate. It keeps freezing.

Emma: That’s frustrating. Have you tried restarting it?

Alex: Yes, I did, but it didn’t help. I might need to ask I.T. for help.

Emma: Alright, let’s see if they can fix it quickly. We still have some time before the meeting.

Alex: Okay, I’ll give them a call now. Thanks, Emma.

Emma: No problem, Alex. Let me know if you need any assistance.

Example 3

Lisa: Hi, Adekunle. Are you ready for the presentation rehearsal?

Adekunle: Hi, Lisa. I’m afraid I won’t be able to make it.

Lisa: Oh no, what happened?

Adekunle: My car won’t start this morning. I tried several times, but I just can’t get the engine running.

Lisa: That’s unfortunate. Do you need help getting it fixed?

Adekunle: Thank you, Lisa. I’ve already called a mechanic. He should be here soon to help.

Lisa: Alright, let me know if you need anything else. We can reschedule the rehearsal if needed.

Adekunle: Thank you, Lisa. I’ll keep you updated.
